Lady Gaga Dons Bejeweled Headpiece, Kisses Mayor Bloomberg Happy New Year 2012. Lady Gaga has achieved one of the greatest accomplishments in her life. She was asked to press the button that would drop the famous New Year’s Eve ball in New York City’s Time Square. Lady Gaga has professed her love for the city numerous times and even wrote a song about the Big Apple. Lady Gaga rocked New York with a vibrant performance of her song, “Marry The Night.”

In true Gaga style, she took the stage in a funky getup that had not only the audience in the square a little perplexed, but the millions of people watching from home as well. Lady Gaga wore a black cat suit with an open back and adorned with hundreds of obsidian jewels. She added headgear that was reminiscent of a cage or a globe. A face mask that covered one side of her head completed her quirky outfit. The New York native gave an energetic performance that had the massive crowd screaming for more. Prior to her big cat suit unveil, she looked a little like a bedazzled creature from Yo Gabba Gabba. A giant, sparkling coat covered her slinky outfit.
After her performance, Lady Gaga quickly changed outfits to help Mayor Michael Bloomberg with the official ringing in of 2012. Mother Monster wore a silver Versace number that bared one leg. Thankfully the unseasonably warm weather made her gorgeous dress a little more bearable. There was no need to worry about her face getting cold. Her massive jewel-encrusted headpiece covered head to nose. In fact, it may have been a bit too heavy judging by Lady Gaga’s brief exchange with host Ryan Seacrest after the ball dropped.
The singer gushed, “It is such a dream come true.” She told Seacrest, “If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere,” referring to her beloved city. Her voice sounded a bit nasally. Her nasally tone was most likely due to the heavy weight of her sparkling head gear. The mayor was one lucky guy and got a New Year’s kiss from the eccentric singer.
