Adele has done it again. This young lady can move a grown man or woman to tears with her soul-searing voice. This time, Adele’s song, “Someone Like You” has got the entire world captivated. Her first hit song, “Rolling In the Deep,” was a an anthem of sorts packed with lots of girl power. Her latest single is much different and shows a much more vulnerable side to the singer. Anybody who has ever suffered a terrible breakup can identify with both songs, but “Someone Like You,” touches something deep inside a person’s heart.

Her new video for the tear-jerker song is perfect for the melancholy tone of the music. The black-and-white video shows a thoughtful Adele strolling along the edge of a river. Her song is filled with lyrics of remorse over a lost love. The stripped-down video is so simplistic it is impossible not to be drawn into the music. It is lovely to see an artist focus on her singing talents rather than pyrotechnics and outrageous costumes.
Viewers will identify with Adele as she contemplates the future without her lost love and replays the past during her walk. The day looks to be a bit cold and dreary, which is the perfect backdrop for the tone of the music. As with any dissolved relationship, her lyrics ask the “what if” questions that the broken-hearted are always left with. Adele quietly begs her former lover to remember her always, because she will certainly never forget. She manages to take the high road and wish her ex all the best. A feat that is nearly impossible when dealing with shattered dreams and the loneliness of being single.
